Who Makes Mazda?

Mazda SUV Lineup

If you’re wondering who makes Mazda vehicles, we have the answer for you! For decades, Mazda was owned in part by the Ford Motor Company, but as of 2015, the Mazda Motor Company is now its own entity with sole ownership. The corporation is currently based in Fuchu, Aki District, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan. It has factories in Japan (two in Hiroshima and one in Yamaguchi), Mexico, and Alabama. The Alabama factory, located in Huntsville, is the newest Mazda factory in the world.

History of the Mazda Motor Corporation

Mazda was originally known for their three-wheeled carts, but as the demand for cost-effective automobiles increased, the Mazda Motor Corporation changed direction to adapt to what the world wanted. They started building compact cars, then expanded their manufacturing to SUVs and trucks. While some three-wheeled vehicles were still in production, it’s main contribution was the highly regarded Mazda rotary engine. Without it, Mazda would not be what it is today.

How is Mazda Different?

Although the renowned Mazda rotary engine gave the company the push it needed to enter the market competitively, Mazda has improved its strategies and manufacturing, introducing SKYACTIV® technology in its newer models. You can get the full experience of this technology in the Mazda3 and Mazda6, specifically. This allows our vehicles to be both powerful and fuel efficient while remaining cost effective, a trifecta most other companies fail to accomplish.

Mazda Technology

Being in the stages of fine-tuning and detail, Mazda has turned its attention to enhanced safety technology. This includes incorporating features such as a 360-degree monitoring system to assist the driver in taking preventative measures while driving through New Bedford. Since safety is such a big part of the driving experience, we are making sure to focus on features that give you confidence while driving through Dartmouth.
