Inquiring drivers from Dartmouth and beyond will notice that fronting the CX-5 powertrain by default is a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine that is capable of producing 187 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque; this is the case with the CX-5 Sport, Touring, Carbon Edition and Grand Touring trim levels. On the other hand, drivers can opt for a 2.5L four-cylinder turbo engine that produces markedly more horsepower and torque, 250 and 320, respectively. The upgraded engine becomes available when purchasing the Grand Touring Reserve, Carbon Edition Turbo, or the Signature model. Whereas previous models of the CX-5 provided New Bedford motorists with options of either all wheel or front wheel drive, the current and future models of the CX-5 are expected to be AWD-only vehicles.
